Create Pore Pressure
With the Create Pore Pressure form you create a new, dynamic pore pressure property for your 3D mesh. The inputs for this property are the initial/static pore pressure that is available for your full 3D mesh (e.g., from the geomechanical model), and the dynamic pore pressure that is mapped to the reservoir zone of your 3D mesh. Mapping tools are available in the following locations: MODEL > Geomechanics > Tools > Map Properties, MODEL > 3D Mesh > Tools > Map Properties, or MODEL > Rock Properties > Tools > Map Properties. The result is a pore pressure property with time steps for the full model. For FLAC3D, both inputs and the final pore created pore pressure property should have a nodal storage type.
It is not mandatory to run the Create Pore Pressure functionality. As long as a valid pore pressure property with values defined everywhere on your 3D mesh is available, it can be used on the Build Deck form. This can be from another source, yet Create Pore Pressure is a tool that assists in achieving this.
To create the pore pressure property
- Open the Create Pore Pressure form.
- Select a 3D mesh from the drop-down list.
- Select the Initial pore pressure from the drop-down list, typically a static pore pressure property from the geomechanical model.
- Select the Reservoir pore pressure from the drop-down list, typically a dynamic pore pressure property inside the flow simulated reservoir zone.
- Type a name for the new pore pressure property in the Pore pressure name text field.
- Click Apply or OK to create the property.
